The lead- carbon battery is a new type of battery that combines lead-acid batteries and supercapacitors. It not only takes advantage of the high-capacity instantaneous charge of supercapacitors, but also exploits the specific energy advantages of lead-acid batteries.
A lead carbon battery is constructed as a high-quality hermetic VRLA lead-acid battery with the addition of carbon ingredients to the negative electrodes. The carbon components do not change the basic electrochemistry of the battery, but rather increase power and minimise sulphation. Sulphation causes normal lead-acid batteries to fail, but this phenomenon is minimised with Luminor LLC lead carbon batteries.
